Rescue mode is a tool on your server that allows you to boot into a temporary operating system for the purpose of diagnosing and resolving issues.
Usual tasks the rescue mode is appropriate for include:
- Resetting your root password
- Diagnosing network problems
- Repairing a broken operating system
- Fixing a software firewall misconfiguration
- Testing disk,CPU and RAM
Backing up your data should be the first step in rescue mode if you do not already have recent backups available.
To boot the server in rescue mode, log in to the customer area
Enter the server details and press the "Enable rescue mode" button.
A popup will appear asking for your confirmation to activate it: Confirm.
At this point, the server will restart and launch Rescue mode. The operation takes a few minutes.
The SSH credentials for access are located in the Server Information section. To view the password, press on the asterisks.. Alternatively, you can connect to the server console by pressing the "Console KVM noVNC" button.
